Hi guys,

First my sytem specs :

A7N8X Dlx rev 2, bios 1007
Barton 2500+
512 Mb Corsair pc2700
ATI AIW 9800 pro
20g Maxtor 7200
40g Maxtor 7200
Antec case performance series II
Antec truegold 380W
Daewoo ADSL Modem DW-2020P
WinXP PRO

Now my problem.

I have high speed internet access through my Daewoo ADSL Modem
DW-2020P that is a PCI card. So the phone jack goes directly into that
card. Internet goes well and fast except that the connection drops 2-3
times every day which is very annoying!

The drop is not between my comp and my ISP since the icon on my
systray that looks like two small windows first turns to red (then my
connection with my ISP drops), flashes a bit, displays the message
that a network card is not connected, then after 2-3 seconds turns
back to yellow. then 2-3 more seconds turns back to normal green and
only now may I reconnect with my ISP.

I am wondering, is this an issue with the card, the mobo or WinXP? How
can I tell? Are there any tests I might put this rig through?

TIA

I get basically this same behavior with all my wireless cards if their
access point is powered off or rebooted. Therefore I do not buy
your conclusion that the problem is necessarily hardware. Still sounds
like your DSL connection is simply being dropped.

Sorry, don't know how to test this unless you either replace the PCI card
with an external modem or unless the PCI card has some feature in the
driver for logging events so you can diagnose this.

I'd guess it's your dsl connection being dropped. I see my DSL
connection dropped quite often by my ISP (not 3 times a day, but often
enuf. I use the RASPPPOE driver btw.
