Asus's website lists many CUW variations but not the CUW-AM, and then trying
to dig up the manual sends me into loops between country sites. I've
located the last BIOS; don't need help with drivers.
Google searches aren't bringing much other meaningful info so far.
A friend wants to add a video card to supplant the Intel onboard... cheaply
(ie: won't buy a new Barton2500+ system for
450$CAD).
Recommendations on PCI video cards proven to work with this icky chipset on
this icky HP board would be helpful. I'm 2900km from this board so I can't
tell you anything else.
If you're in or know of locations for available PCI cards in the Calgary,
Alberta, Canada area, even better.
Archived from groups: alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus (More info?)
I installed an ATI based Excalibur Radeon 9200 PCI 128MB into my ol' HP
Pavilon which had a Trigem MB w/PIII 933MHz in it. Was never able to
completely get the BIOS to give back the 4 MB of ram it was pirating from
the system for the onboard, but it works excellent. Unfortunatly "new" PCI's
start at ~$69(CDN) and can go all the way up to a couple hundred depending
on features. ie: TV out, dual monitor, etc....the Excalibur was ~$140 brand
new.
