I got a DVD burner and I'm having problems with it. It
burns a CD normally, plays DVD videos and all but when I
put a blank DVD in it it doesn't do anything, I mean, It
tries to read it but finally stops and when I try to burn
files or video on a blank dvd the program keeps saying to
inserv a blank dvd in the drive but the dvd is already
there! Here are my Burner and Blank DVDs Specs:

Might try a different brand of DVD disk. My father bought several hundruds
on ebay, the work fine on his burner but mine just tries to read and finally
quits. (They were very cheep price).

Are you sure you have the right DVD format type cd Some use + a some use -

Sounds like OP is trying to burn a DVD using the native XP burning prog.
Must install nero, sonic, or other dvd burning prog.

I'm having the same prob too, but ive tried loads of different media including sony, any ideas
btw, i have nero 7

Also, my drive supports all media writing, except dvd-rom and cd-rom
Oh yeah, my dvd-r/rws read but in nero when burn-at once is disabled the burn stops at writing lead in and when burn at once is on the burn crashes at about quarter of the way through.

Well you need a dvd burning program, because xp can't burn dvds by itself. I would recommend Nero.
