After recent Windows Update, "Safely Remove Hardware"
icon appeared on taskbar; rt-click identified hardware
as "psc1200(DOT4USB)";
Q: should I remove this hardware, or simply hide icon?
thanks

The icon on the systray allows you to select the device you wish to remove: more specifically it relates to USB attached devices such as cameras / disk drives etc. One would use this in order to unplug the device and ensure that the system doesn't have a bellyache once its removed.
