Epson C82

Got a refurbished C82 from Epson online 7 months ago and it worked very
good, but after putting in a new black cartridge (tried 3 different ones) it
won't print black. Tried head cleaning 8-9 times and nozzle checks. Only
color shows. I suspect the nozzle is clogged. Anyone have any advice how to
clean the nozzles out?

A local quote wants more than I paid for the printer just to look at it.
It's a fine printer and I hate to just toss it away if someone could fix it
and use it. I've already purchased an HP 5650 to replace it.

Try the well proven method of filling a spare cartridge with Windolene (USA
Windex) which is a solvent primarily for dye based inks: but , it works for
pigmented as well. By printing a few windy pages and seeing the ink become
fainter you have cleaned from within. This tends to clear any paper residue
and cruddy ink from the Piezo heads. A few drops on the docking sponge
overnight can often accomplish this as well. You may obviously need to reset
the chip with a resetter if the old cartridge signalled totally empty. The
JetTec brand now distributes a free cartridge flush and cleaner with the ink
packs or you may choose to use a dilute household ammonia mix.
