MY pioneer 107D is recognised as a cd ??

It therefore will not burn DVD's as it believes a cd is
in the drive?

Any help.

It is normal to be recognized as a "CD-Rom" in My Computer.

Did you install the DVD burning software that came with the drive? No
version of Windows has native DVD burning software.

I am incurring the same problem with a lacie dvd-rw drive
i recently purchased. The problem is when xp receognizes
the drive as a cd-rw instead of a cd-rw, i cant burn dvd's
and the burner programs (i have both nero and easy cd
creator) only limit it 700 mb's and not 4.7gb's
