plug and play camera

I am running xp on a Compaq desktop. I have a Kodak Easy
Share LS443 which no longer is visable in the directory
structure. I have checked the system / devices and tried
to reinstall the driver but it indicates there was an
error "the data is invalid" when trying to update the
driver. Even if I uninstall the device I cannot get the
scanner/camera wizard that reads external memory devices.
I can plug it into my laptop and it reads the camera just
fine.
