Thought you might like an update.
I have a MicroAdvantage DVD drive that has been
working fine for 6 months. About a week ago, it stopped
recognizing DVDs. A few facts:
-It still reads CDs
-Still shows up as a drive (albeit a CD drive)
In response to the problem, I have recently:
-Cleaned lens (tried to, but it would not spin the disk)
-reinstalled DVD software (Power DVD and InterVideo Win
DVD).
-uninstalled and reinstalled DVD driver (multiple times)
-installed Adptec's download
-Updated DVD Firmware
-Changed drives "transfer mode" to PIO
-reviewed 30 pages of MS newsgroup
-Rewired CD-ROM/DVDRW drives such that the DVD is the
master (took the CD ROM off-line in an attempt to isolate
the problem).
I also installed the drive on a second computer - it did
not work on that computer either. So, the MicroAdvantage
has agreed to recieve the DVD by mail to chekc out what
the problem is.
