I have Windows XP, and I just switched hardware from the Wheel Mouse Optical
USB to the Basic Optical Mouse. I guess I did this because the Basic was
smaller and less bulky.

Ever since I switched to the Basic optical mouse, the mouse pointer snaps to
the corner about once a minute.

This is very frustrating. How can I fix this?

1: Did you remember to remove the software that came with your old mouse, if
not remove that, reboot windows and try again.

2: Install the software that came with your mouse, after you remove the
previous software.

3: Also are your cords warped on your mouse?

If so you may want to check and see if the wires are causing some of the
problem... especially if they had been scrunched up forever. To test the
wires if it's causing some of the problem, is to lift th mouse up and
without interfereing with the sensor, wiggle the cord and see if the mouse
pointer is affected. If by chance the mouse cords are warped you may want to
look for another mouse, just don't name it Jerry.

I have a Microsoft wireless optical blue mouse and it always had this
problem.
Its a hardware bug I think because I have tested other similar mice and they
do the same snap.
