Problems with HP3550

Hi,
I have the following problems with my printer HP 3550: one related to
its driver, and the other with paper loading.

driver: when I print Word documents, the printer loads first a blank
sheet and then prints correctly on the following. If I send for
printing a document of two pages, it only prints the second.

paper loading: I need to put one sheet per time, otherwise it swollows
a bunch of 7-8 sheets (if they don't jam beforehand).
I tried different kinds of paper but the problem doesn't disappear.
I wonder whether there is a function (such as the one that one
implements with the specific button) to eject the paper.

Furthermore, every now and again, the printer doesn't switch off.
