I have a HP nx9005 laptop with 30gb hard drive. I want to partition the hard drive but the primary partition is the same size as the whole hard drive. How do I reduce this partition to allow me to then use the unallocated space. I dont want to format the hard drive. Any ideas?

A 3rd party program is needed. Partition Magic is a good one. There are
others.

You need a disk management utility. I use Partition Magic 8.
