R800 Epson Photo opinions wanted

I want a good archival portrait photo printer, this seems to fill the
needs from the specs printed. I presently use a 1280 and the skin tones
are great. I can't imagine the smaller pixels and other improvements
mentioned. However I have several concerns:

1.) since this is not a dye but rather a pigment how does metamerism
effect this?

2.) I "heard" it's a ink guzzler. When the occasional head cleaning
cycle runs it empties colors not used frequently used to the point that
more of the red is lost in cleaning cycles.

3.) how are the bk/white photos?

Can any R800 users please help contribute ALL pros & cons?
