Suddenly...... my "A drive", my "USB cruzer mini storage
device", and my CD drives will not read files, say they
are not formatted, and I can't retrieve any information
through them. I recently installed Symantec Systemworks.
When I scan for problems, the results are "nothings
wrong". Does any body have an idea for me?

It is possible that computer hardware fails: yes the A drive will be recognised in BIOS and you will see it in XP, but if a disk is inserted you cannot read or write data.

Now, what is peculiar is the double failure. Are both FDD and DR on the USB port?

If so you just may have a USB device failure.

Try unplugging the CD and or Floppy, then going to device manager and removing them. If When you reboot and plug it in again,. Windows sees and install the device, it is not a USB failure.

So you are lleft with examining the FDD.

Try pluggin it into a friend's PC and see if you can read / write there.
