Hi,

I've noticed that some video files that play fine on my XP Windows media
player are unrecognisable by my Pocket PC 2003 Windows Media Player.

Just wondering if anyone knows what files the player supports? And if there
is any software available (Preferably freeware!) that allows you to convert
standard MPEG, etc. files to ones that the PPC Windows media player
supports. Alternatively, are there any programs for PPC that will support
other video files

Thanks
Cassandra

Hi Cassandra,

Nice name by the way :-)

The Pocket Windows Media Player supports the Windows Media Video (wmv)
and Windows Media Audio (wma) format. I don't think it supports other
stuff.

To convert mpegs or avis in this format, please download the "Windows
Encoder" software from the Microsoft homepage.

There are two other nice programs you can use to view videos on your PPC:

PocketTV (www.pockettv.com - I think) and PocketMVP (don't know the
webpage, but just google for it...)

However, even if you use any of the mpeg/avi capable players, you should
recode your videos so that they suite your PPC (datarate in terms of
storage capacity and resolution)! If you need any help on that, please
let me know!

bye
Marcus.
