Mouse Dropping Issue - Any Help?

There seem to be many people experiencing problems with
their mouse in XP and I'm one of them. I've tried the fix
in the knowledgebase (where you remove all reg keys and re-
install your mouse) and it didn't help.

Basically, my mouse works 98% of the time but fairly often
it'll momentarily stop functioning then return. Sometimes
it'll move erratically too. It's
getting really frustrating. When I had Intellipoint
installed it would pop up errors everytime. I removed it
and ran the fix I mentioned just using the basic XP
drivers - still no luck.

Here's what I'm running - XP Pro SP1, Intellimouse
Explorer (USB), and I don't know if it matters but an
Intel 875 Mobo. Oh, and I know it's not the mouse cord.

Can anyone Help? Oh yeah, my friend has an Intellimouse
Explorer too with XP and has the same problems. I don't
know what chipset his motherboard is though (if that has
anything to do with this).
