Perhaps HP's Recovery CD does this. The Recovery Console that is built into
every retail WinXP CD-ROM WILL do this if you insist, but it does not do it
automatically. The "console" is not hardware; it is simply a very
basic-level program included on the CD and intended to be used to solve a
variety of possible problems, as Jim said in his first post. It does this
in response to user commands, not automatically.
