I have a new computer with windows xp home edition on it.
I went to update the driver and found that the new driver
did not work. I rolled back to the old driver, but when I
restarted my computer it would load the background and
icons and then freeze and restart. I have no idea what has
happened and wondered if maybe anyone else would? please
help me.

STart Windows in safe mode.

Just after POST finishes and before Windows starts to load, press F8.

Choose Safe Mode: Windows will then boot up, but you'll get Warnig Messages about Safe mode.

The click START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM RESTORE

Choose a restore point when your system was functioning properly and before the installation of the suspect driver.

The system will restore and restart.
