I'm hosting a IIS FTP server. It works fine on my lan however when outside the lan I'm unable to connect to it. I've got a linksys router & forwarded port 21 to the host computer's internal ip but still nothing.
The following are some settings in the router:
SPI: Disabled
Block WAN Request: Enabled
Multicast Pass Through: Enabled
IPSec Pass Through: Enabled
PPTP Pass Through: Enabled
Remote Management: Disabled
Remote Upgrade: Disabled
MTU: Disabled
Not sure if any of those are preventing me from connecting from ouside though - maybe block WAN request?
but also remember that if you disable that, your router will respond to pings. and if you enable remote admin, please please PLEASE, change the default password to somthing that cant easily be guessed.
my computer is so fast, it completes an endless loop in less than 4 seconds!
Some ISP's block common ports try something like 1919 or 2121 for your FTP. Also remember to forward the new port you decide to try. In this same forum I give detailed instructions on how to get FTP server woriking with linksys BEFSR41. But its with Bullitproof FTP (G6). Some of the details can help you. Try a search function to pind the post.
