I've got a pre-release MPx, but I can't figure out how to turn the
darn thing on. I've looked all over the thing and can't seem to find
anything that indicates power. If anyone knows the trick - I've got
to get this thing up and running.

Please email at the address above.

Thanks,

Send it to me and I will find it out for you ;-)

Without joking: you mean the real MPx? I had one in my hand in Cannes
end of February but didn't care for Power-On button...

Yeah - the REAL MPx (Clamshell/Flip-Phone w/ keyboard). When it's
plugged in, the screen glows and a charging light goes on, but that's
about all I can get out of this thing.

Any ideas?

Who's the spammer; he who chooses to ask a reply through email
or he who directly accuses someone he doesn't know at all of
being a spammer, in a newsgroup that doesn't care for your

How do you mean? My thought was that there might be a little switch
to "enable" the battery like the old 3500 series iPaqs, but I couldn't
find anything that looked like it. I charged the device overnight and
have tried to power on the device with and without the device plugged
in.

I had success when I was charging the device with the battery removed
(odd). It's very finicky and likes to reboot...but it's an
Engineering eval device. PRETTY SLICK.

so it switched on with battery removed and power connected?

YEah - I think that's how we got it to first turn on. After the
initial power on, it has been a little dependable. I've given it back
though because we couldn't get an application to stick around very
long with all the hard-resetting.

Also of note - the orientation of the SIM card in the slot is not as
indicated on the rubber cover. You need to put it in mirror image to
how the picture shows.
