In general, XP requires third-party drivers for SCSI, RAID, and SATA disks.
These drivers come from the same source as the SATA contoller. Usually that
is the motherboard vendor, but it could be the maker of an add-in card, if
that is where your SATA contollers are located.

As for booting XP from SATA, that requires that the drivers are added when
XP is installed. If you are doing a clean install, look for a small message
near the bototm of the screen about hitting F6 to load third-prty drivers.
These drivers must be on a floppy, not on a CD. If not a clan installation,
then you probably need to perform a "repair" installation of XP, which will
also let you add the drivers. er are some links to repairing XP:

I am puzzled by your statement that "i cant see it in the bios". If you can
use PM8 on it, you must be able to see it in the BIOS testing (power on
testing or POST). Unless, of course, you prepared the disk on another
computer, which may not work, depending on the details of the contollers in
each PC.

Note that the SATA disk may not be listed with the IDE disks, if you have
those. Instead, it will probably be listed separately as part of a RAID
array. (Many SATA contoller are also RAID contollers.) If your controller
is also RAID, then you will need to build a RAID array containing the disk.
Yes, an array can contain only one disk, but that is usually a custom or
advanced option. By defualt RAID controllers tend to merge disks or mirror
ddiks.
