For wireless networking and without opening PC to install pci card, is the
only answer to add a USB Network adapter, eg Wireless-G USB Network Adapter
for linksys?

Yes. How else would you expect to do it? The data has to get into the
computer somehow. Is there a reason you don't want to open the
computer? A pci card will work much better than a usb one. It's very
easy to put in a pci card.

Hi

Technology wise PCI card is probably slightly better then the USB.

However Wireless is depending on signal propagation.

For Desktop (or tower case) USB Wireless Client Card should be considered as
the preferred solution.

PCI Wireless Client Card ends up been stuck behind the computer's case,
resultant in obstructed transmission and poor performance. USB is connected
to the Port with 2-3' cable allowing the Antenna to be placed above the
System for better Transmission.

Ignoring the price factor I would get the USB manufactured by Buffalo Tech
(slightly expensive) or the Orinoco Proxim (very expensive) otherwise find
the cheapest you can find (some goes for less then $30 and give it a try.

Jack - That's a very good point about the pci card stuck behind a desk
or in one of those enclosed "computer desks". Thanks for the
information about what mftrs. you like, too. I've found the Buffalo
wireless access points to be very good, so it makes sense that their
usb wireless adapters would be a good choice.

Thanks again for the information. P.S. Your site is terrifc!
