Hey the battery on my motherboard was removed then put
right back in thinking it would reset the bios on the
board. But now when i turn the computer on it does
nothing. Nothing come on the screen, its like my monitor
isnt even detecting my machine. Is there anyway to get my
motherboard working again. Motherboard is an old amd k7
model (year 1999), running windows xp. any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated. thx.

Hi,

Buy a new battery to replace the old one.
Boot into BIOS and load setup default.
Change the system date and time and then change all necessary setttings than save and exit BIOS setup.

Can you start the PC now?
If not, post back with details.

Peter

Go to another computer and check your mobo manufacturer's
web site to see if they have any way to restore the BIOS.
Intel does but you said K7 so it's not that. Some BIOS's
also allow you to hold INS while booting to skip directly
into the BIOS with generic settings. Many Soyo's offer
that option.

My guess is that you have either fried something or when
you reset it a FSB speed has been changed that the BIOS
doesn't like now. AMD... make sure the CPU fan is plugged
in. Usually when you pop an AMD proc you can smell it, it
reeks.

Good luck.

Possibly you damaged something else while playing with the battery :(
Too bad - replacing the mobo will wake up the hungry product activation daemon.
