Hi
I am trying to link my old Win98SE computer to my new
Win2000 computer using a serial transfer cable (with
correct wiring connections). Using the 'Network and dial-
up connections' wizard produces a connection that causes
the modem to dial-up when I try to get the computers to
communicate, which of course fails.
What should I be doing to link the computers for
transferring files. Thanks.

Do a Google for "direct cable connection" also search MS

better off using a cross-over Ethernet using the network
interface connection, If you don't have network cards in the
computersm they are cheap and will be 100 times faster than
using a serial (DB9) connection. You can also use USB with
the proper hardware, but Ethernet is faster.
