Set up new system from clean since beginning of July this year. Ran
like a train until Aug14, when this shutdown prob began.

Stalls on Windows is saving settings or immediately after (plain mid
blue screen - NOT Blue-Screen-Of-Death)

Have restored from Ghost image taken Aug10 and avoided things which I
though might be implicated, but it is still having the problem

Have disabled Welcome Screen/Fast User Switching and using the plain
ShutDown dialogue as one XP shutdown troubleshooter suggests as the
best fix for this problem.

All help appreciated
