My hardware profiles selection doesn't work any more.
I can copy existing profiles and I'm able to select them at the boot up
process.
But always the system starts with "Profile 1"

Rix,
When you right-click on 'My Computer' > 'Properties' and select 'Hardware' >
'Hardware Profiles'. Highlight the profile you want to start up at boot.
Click 'Copy' and temporarily name this, click OK. Now move this new profile
to the top of the list. Test both options under the heading 'When Windows
Start' and see if your new profile is booting correctly. If working
correctly on both options, simply delete your original Profile and rename
the new one if you want.
ps-when clicking Properties after highlighting the Profile, the box 'always
include this profile as an option when Windows starts' should be checked.
Maybe your problem profile has this unchecked? Just a thought.
