Double Click problems

Hello@all...

I have a really serious problem. everyone knows the double
click of course. now my problem is that it happens too
often. it is now almost happening every time i press the
mouse button(s) a single time! but the comp makes a double
click out of it and i open every file that i want to mark
or drag somewhere. i already reinstalled my computer
because of this (i guess you can imagine how hard it is to
mark a text on a website or simply drag a text document
somewhere without always using the keyboard!), but it
always reappears.

the most interesting fact about it is that i know how to
"repair" this problem for a short time: I play a round of a
fast-paced action game like UT2004 or Quake 3 and the mouse
runs normal again- for a short time.

Here are specs of computer and mouse:

Win XP Prof, SP 1 installed
AMD Ahtlon 3800+
1024 RAM
GeForce FX 5600

(already tried it with the installation of the mouse
drivers, didnt work... and i tried it with a second mouse,
but it still didnt work)
Typhoon Mouse (40156, SN: 010076839)
Optical Mouse, wired mouse

Please help me! I dont know what to do! I cant keep
reinstalling my comp every two days!

seems that the button has become a bit loose with too much usage.
