A7V8X-X MB will not enter POST

Hello all.

My A7V8X-X MB will not enter POST from a cold start. My monitor will show
the "Video Error" box while the hard drives spin up but I don't get the beep
or POST. It will boot up (beep, POST, and finally, WinXP) when I press the
reset button on the case and all works well. I have the rev. 1.01 board and
I'm using a Gainward Geforce-4 TI4200/650XP video card. I contacted ASUS
and they have had me clear the RTC RAM and change memory sticks but to no
avail. I have BIOS ROM file version 1006 installed now. I've used the BIOS
with default settings and also set my own particular to the system. Neither
way has an effect.

I've lived with this for a year now since I built the machine as it is a
minor inconvenience to have to reset it when turning it on. Now, I have
time to tinker with it so I would like to know if anyone has had similar
problems or knows what to check/fix. Thanks, Mike.

Do you have a spare power supply handy, that you can swap for the
current one ? Maybe like one of the other Asus boards, this is
a problem with the rise time or some other characteristic of the
power supply output voltages. It could be any number of other issues
with the motherboard, but as the reset button fixes it for you, I don't
know if RMA is a reasonable answer or not.
