How Do You Download ASF Files?

How do you download ASF files? Using AsfRecorder, Download Accelerator, or right-clicking doesn't always work. Going into the Temp directory doesn't work either.

I know it's by design, but I'm pretty sure there is a way. I'm pretty frustrated with watching bogged down streams and would like to download them and watch them in sync. Hopefully someone will improve ASFrecorder, since it is abandoned by the original author and is open source. Anybody out there know of some way to download ASF files?
