Windows 7 dvd problems from xp

Hello,
I wiped xp off my zv6130 hp laptop, everything is great except a loud crackling sound when i play advd movie. All other sounds are great, cd's, music windows sounds,etc. Any ideas

Looks like codec problem. What software are you using to play DVD? Have you tried to use VLC?
