problems with defragment

can anyone help me to defragment my computer. I have
windows 98 system. Everytime I try to defragment it says
there are errors on c drive and tells me scandisk to fix
the errors first. I have done this several times but still
cannot defragment- can people help??

Windows *XP* *hardware* group, then?!
