I have a dell under warranty that took a lightning hit on
the modem. Dell has replaced the motherboard and
furnished a new modem and a new sound card, but the
system will not recognize them for plug and play. The
only original hardware is the XP install. What is
causing XP not to recognize these cards with plug and
play? The motherboard and bios are what Dell shipped. I
haven't tested yet, but the XP may not be recognizing any
of the PCI slots. There is a graphics card in an agp
slot, so the computer boots up and is useable, just won't
recognize these two cards for plug and play.
