i got a harddrive from a friend of mine..
its kind of old but its still in good condition but i
can't format it..
it won't allow me.. it says some contents are being used
by other programs...

any way of formatting it??
its just an additional harddrive...
so i tried to format it from "My Computer"...

help needed.. please

You can also format it by booting with a boot disk, I think.

Reboot in Safe Mode (press F8 during the early boot phase),
then try again.

The OP would need a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.
It is likely that he would need to repartition the disk
first, and there is some danger of partitioning the
wrong disk . . .
