While using O&O Defrag v6.5 Build 851 to defragment my Volume C:/ I recieve an error when it tries to "Check Disk For Errors". It says "Error: Filesystem is corrupt" and will not continue to defrag. I downloaded another defragmenter and tried the same thing but it says "Volume C:/ is in use by another application". I do not know whether these two error messages are related, but I do know that there are errors apparently on my filesystem. I recently partitioned my C:/ to include another drive with a portion of my total hard drive space. I created drive G:/ with about 20GB. Drive G:/ defragments fine with no errors. I cannot seem to find a Microsoft Disk Checker to scan my disk and correct the apparent errors. Any help you could provide would be very appreciated. I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP1, 1.35GHz, 700+MB RAM, 120GB Hard Drive, NFTS Filesystem.

Thanks a lot.

-Mike

Can you defragment using windows xp?
Try going to start>run> type "cmd"
At the arrow type chkdsk /f and then restart the computer. The computer
will then do a disk check and fix any errors.
