Jetdirect J2337A troubles with Laserjet 4M

I recently purchased a Laserjet 4m with a Jetdirect J2337A BNC and
T0base-T network card which the former swore worked together with his
Windows 2000 and Windows XP system, however, I cannot make it do so
with my Windows NT4 (SP6a) and Mac OS 10.3. It all ended up that the
seller sent me another J2337A card which he had, also claiming that it
worked on his network. Unfortunately I had the same discouraging
result as I had with the first card, does anybody know if I need to do
something special to get this card to work? I have HP Download Manager
installed but it cannot update the card - I assume it's an older,
non-updateable, jetdirect card.

I tried with a jetdirect J2550B card and it worked perfectly so
problem lies with the J2337A card, not the printer.

Any help in this matter will be most appreciated, thank you,
