I use XP Pro with automatic windows updates enabled. After
the most recent update a few days ago, the scan application
"Epson scan" (v 1.22g) won't start anymore.
I get an error "ESCNDV.EXE has encountered a Problem ...".
Clicking on details, the problem signature says:
No information can be found on the epson support page and I
seem to have to most recent scanner driver. Has anybody
experienced this? Any idea how to resolve this?

Walter, reinstall the Scanner. Disconnect it and remove the software
from Add/Remove Programs in
Control Panel. Restart and let Xp load without it. Restart again and
reinstall the Software and drivers.
Then finally reconnect the scanner.

I too am experiencing this problem, although I have an Epson 4870 Scanner. This only recently started. I have spoken with Epson Tech Support in the UK and they have had to elevate the problem to their Level 2 Supprt Team to investigate. Apparently they have been receiving a few reports such as this in recent weeks. Various "solutions" have been suggested, including deleting the "ESCNDV" folder from the TWAIN 32 folder, and then running C:\WINDOWS\INF and deleting the "EPSNSCAN.INF" file, followed by a reboot and reinstallation of the Scanner software. Unfortunately no luck with this either!
Has a solution been found elsewhere. I will post a response if I hear back from Epson and their resolution works.
