Since installing the latest unified drivers (5.10) from nvidia, the
nvidia mixer won't start. It says that it is unable to detect nforce
hardware on my system. The device manager shows all to be normal
without conflicts.

any suggestions as to the cause of this problem?

Thanks

Sometimes there is a sound device that does not receive the updated drivers and
as I understand it the mixer looks for a certain version of driver before it
loads.
In device manager under sound and vid.etc go to View and click "show hidden
devices" you will then see a "NVidia nForce Audio" check to see that this is
using the same drivers as the other 2 nForce audio devices.
If not you need to update it manually and point it to the folder where you have
the 5.10 audio drivers expanded.

By the way there is a BETA 6.11 out that works exeptionally well...sound is
terrific and I swear my bus sped up.
