First off, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Release Candidate works great!
I upgraded to SP1 and updated my Nvdia driver today.
The SP1 combined with the Nvidia update really sped up my GTX465. But . . .
SP1 takes an INSANELY LONG TIME to install.
I downloaded the whole Windows 7 SP1 RC exe (886Mb) from Micro$oft first.
The install took over 4 HOURS!
I do not understand why it would take so long, but be forewarned.
When you install SP1 do it at night.
Do not do it in the afternoon, unless you enjoy watching the progress go 7%, 9%, 11%, 7%.
"Hey, wait a minute weren't you at 7% before."
Bill Gates made me miss 'The Simpsons' and I want payback.
But, so far so good, even with the RC everything seems to be functioning as good or better than before.
I just hope that when the "real" SP1 comes out I do not have to go through this painful process all over again. D'oh! - I do not know when the official release is coming but I just read that SP1 RC will TIME-BOMB on Nov 30, 2011.
I guess this means I will have to re-install the final RC. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?Fami...
I have a 3.6 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 8Gb 1033 Mhz RAM, O/C'd GeForce GTX465 and a RAID HD.
It is still a fast PC, even if the Motherboard is 2 years old.
