P5AD2 Trouble w DVD-RW

Hi folks,

I have a P5AD2 Premium system that I just built. Everything is good except
that I can't get my DVD-RW drive to function. I've tried two different
drives, both exhibit the same behavior, both new drives. Both are 16X Dual
layer DVD+/-RW drives. They spin up and down and up and down, endlessly,
but never execute. Program CDs get nowhere so I can't install anything from
it. A music CD will bring up Media Play, the CD will display correctly as
far as artist, album and tracks, the player shows "ready," but nothing
happens when you hit play. It isn't just that you don't hear anything, the
play button remains available, and no progress shows, nothing plays. There
is no firmware upgrade for the drive. It is a Sony DRU-710. But I had a
Liteon in there first, and it actually froze my machine everytime I tried to
access it. The drive is the primary master on the IDE channel. I have two
SATA HDDs running in a RAID 1 config off the Intel RAID controller. Any
ideas? Thank you.

Have you loaded all the latest drivers?
On my P5AD2 I have a Plextor 712A on the primary master IDE, jumpered as
master. and a Sony DRU-700A on the Primary IDE Raid jumpered as master. Both
work fine. Also I'm using SATA RAID 0 with 2 Maxtor 250 Gig drives.
