I just installed this mb in my daughter's comp with an XP1800 and a Maxtor
40 gig hd (5T040H4) and every time I start the comp I get the error "Smart
Failure Predicted on Primary Master" ....etc. I used the Maxtor Powermax
utility and ran the full tests and it reports that nothing is wrong with the
hd. I have the S.M.A.R.T monitoring in the bios disabled. The comp is
working great other than the bothersome error message and having to hit F1
to resume the boot. Any ideas ?

Enable smart. If you still get the error, consider that it may be
telling you something the maxtor utility isn't. I've had bad luck
with maxtor's 40gb drives.>

I tried powermax again and this time it reported that the drive was bad.
Waiting for a RMA drive as we speak. Thanks !
