i'm trying to connect my Hp48G+ Calculator using an OEM serial cable to
the COM1 port on my asus mobo.

however the com1 port isn't working.

device manager says its fine, and i've checked that the bios com1
settins and device settings are calling up the same inflo [3F8/irq4]

and there isn't any conflicts.

and nothing is using the port however every time i try to use it, it
give an error, or it says its in use by another program.

any one have this problem before?

thanks!!

If you have a modem, it is still low used device, the modem could be using
the port. Check under control manager fax/modems if that is the case you
will need to activate another port on your bios to use the cable. Hope that
helps!
