short answer = yes

Make sure you have all driver updates and bios updates after you install windows 7. For gaming im not to sure on windows 7 performance but I think its a little lower on FPS.

There have been people on these boards with really low FPS using windows 7. Most of the time it is from old drivers but some have issues with hardware too.

I'm running a Q6600 here, and can assure you that Win 7 works perfectly well on it.

If you are unsure if your processor can handle a 64 bit OS or if your processor is a 64 bit one download and run this little app. A Q6600 is more then capable to run Windows 7 x64.

Pheon1x,

Just as a precaution, have you downloaded and ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?

As everyone has stated: the Q6600 is more than sufficient to pwn Windows 7 64-bit. I've been running it for the Windows 7 RC since May, and there have been no issues.
