Hello,

does someone know if 2 Hitachi 7k250 hard drives (250Gb) in Raid 1 on
a Promise Fasttrack 150 TX2+ can run on an Asus P2BDS rev 1.04 with
the latest bios ?

Do I need to choose SCSI in the bios in order to boot to SATA ?

Best regards

I haven't tried it, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't work -
provided the BIOS sees the Promise card.

If there's a bootable IDE drive attached, yes - otherwise it shouldn't
matter. If there's a bootable SCSI drive attached, you'll probably need
to disable the SCSI BIOS in order to boot from SATA.

Ok, thanks for your help. I think I identified my problem. I can install
XP by hitting F5 during the boot in "standard PC" but if I do this in
acpi or smp it freezes. Does somebody have an idea ?

Best regards

This symptom frequently indicates incompatibility between the
motherboard and disk controller BIOSes, and may not be solvable.

You can try changing options for MPS version and power management in the
motherboard BIOS (some combination may work), controller BIOS update if
available etc.
