I have a Sony Vaio desktop which recently thanked me for
my purchase (2 yrs ago) via my hard drive crashing. My
system restore discs wouldn't work, & soon I got a
message saying hard drive failure "imminent". Scary for
this dummy to be sure! It said back up files and replace
hard drive. I could not back up files since OS was at
that time was non-existant. I did replace HD. I used
restore discs on new HD with no problems and system works
great again. Now I want the files off of "D" since I
know "C" is ruined due to trying to "system restore".
Someone who likes to type detailed instructions please
give step by step instructions on installation and
possible recovery of these files. Any help greatly
appreciated!

Hello

Well you can install the drive as a slave drive and drive to copy the
files off the drive. You can install the drive as a slave and try to
see if you can get your files, that way. Or you can send send oyur drive

off to a clean room in whch that could get expensive, but try setting
up the drive as a slave drive to your c drive.

Hello

On oyur C drive you have jumpers on the drive, your C drive
will be set to Master, you can connect your D drive as a slave drive
and change the jumper on the drive to Slave, you will have
to look at the drive ok. If you can both of your haddrives should
have name on them like who they are made by, tell me that if
you can.
