Hello

Hope all is well

A friend has a Dell Inspiron 5000 with Windows XP
Professional. It has a modem port on the left-hand side,
however, the OS does not list it; Device Manager has no
indication of a Modem. I ran the add/remove hardware
specifying the Modem & nothing came up.

Also, added a 'default' 'standard 56kb modem' but not sure
if this will work anyway.

Any ideas, suggestions? It does have a modem embedded to
the board so it seems.

Thanks, regards

Carlos

Hello

Four options you have
1. Call Dell Tech Support
2. Your internal modem could be defective
3. Go and purchase a modem pcmcia
4. Check Dell's website for driver for your particular laptop modem
