I have installed a DVD writer GSA-4120B in windows XP. When I start windows Hardware manager detecs the drive as a new device but can not locate any drivers for it. The info with the drive says it should just use windows own drivers not any special ones but it is coming up everytime i start windows. I can use the drive but need to find a proper driver to stop this happening. I have Windows XP which is upto date with Software and my bios is upto date. Any ideas on what I can do?

More about : gsa 4120b dvd writer

Try this:

Click Start-Run-Type regedit and click OK. Now expand to this location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-System-CurrentControlSet-Enum-IDE. Now right click on
the folder that has the label of your DVD Writer and click Delete. Now
reboot and it should properly install and stop bothering you.

Let me know if that works ;)

I would just do a repair installation in this case and see if that fixes
the problem. Boot off your Windows XP CD, choose Install first, then
choose Repair by pressing R, then it will automatically fix itself and
hopefully the problem :)
