CD-RW/DVD bus Setup

ok i USED to have the setup: CD-RW on top(the dell one) and an aftermarket CD-ROM below. that worked fine. i had them both on cable select on bus. now i bought a DVD-ROM to replace the CD-ROM. i cant get a bus configuration to work now. what should i do. its the NEC 24x CD-RW drive. and an IDE DVD 16x drive. its a DELL machine.. 4400. any suggestions???

Set the drive at the end of the cable to Master, set the drive in the
middle to Slave. Now check and make sure everything is working in your
BIOS (usually by pressing DEL, F1, or F2 at bootup). Make sure they are
both recognized and set to auto.
