Hi All
I have DFI Lanparty 865PE MOBO.
Intel 2.4C , CPU
1 GIG of Ram
128 mgb video card
I have 2 Seagate SATA drives running just as SATA no Raid.
I have not installed any software or special drivers for them.
Hooked them up and installed windows as if they were IDE drives.
They are no faster then IDE drives , can't tell the difference if i run one
SATA and one IDE or 2 SATA.
I am almost afried to install the drivers on the floppy, the way i read it
they are only for if i set a Raid Config.
In device manager it says they are useing Microsoft drivers.
Is this the way it should be or should i install the floppy drivers raid or
no raid.
I have windows XP PRO on one drive and the second drive is storage only.
Thanks

You don't need the floppy and SATA's at current firmware are not much faster
then IDE.

Ditto.
Just started using them on Asus PC-DL and expected more as
well, and did some testing just to find out they're
only marginally faster, and only with certain types of
file I/O.
I *do* like the smaller cabling/connectors tho'

'Speed' depends on whether you have a specific requirement eg
games/video/graphics apps otherwise its mainly just a benchmarking exercise,
no real difference for std office type apps

I have two WD 120gig 7200RPM sata drives, configured as
Raid 0, and I noticed that windows XP is a "little" faster on
bootup, but other than that, it's not any faster than IDE.
I do notice a difference in photoshop though, rendering HUGE
picture files ( 30-40 meg TIFF ). Like posted here, with the
current generation of SATA, there isn't much of a difference in
speed. The only reason I bought two SATA drives, was I was
building a new computer, the drives were DIRT cheap, and there
wasn't a difference in price between the mobo with sata, or the
one without. Plus, it cut down on the spaghetti mess of cables
inside my case.
