CD/DVD drive not working

hello sir,
For the past one month my "cd/dvd" drive is not working.When i put a "cd/dvd" in to my drive it shows a message please insert a disk in to the drive.This problem is occuring so many times.SO please tell me how should i rectify this type of problem.
