this goes to the message about the system32 file (hal.dll)
i need to reinstall.
if i use fixboot or any other method, will i lose any info
i have saved on my computer?

Using FIXBOOT will only rewrite a partition boot sector on the
harddrive. This will not fix your problem with the missing file hal.dll
and it will not harm any of your data, though it may be difficult to
access the disk to get your data off it if something goes wrong.
