I have recently gotten DSL service with a wireless modem. When I try to
connect a laptop to the network, I see the SSID in the "Preferred Networks"
and it has a "blue halo", but it does not appear in the "Available Networks"
area. Why is this happening?

Are you broadcasting the SSID from the AP?
